John Kjetil Brøndbo

 Who is this guy?

The first thing I want my surroundings to be aware of when I’m presenting myself is that I’m a father of two charming kids and married to a fantastic woman. Family comes first, and I strive to keep it that way. To ensure that my family can afford what it needs I work as an electrician.

I grew up following a normal way through the Norwegian education system. When I finished middle school, I applied for the electro-line in high school. This is a one-year course that when finished, gives you several options regarding where you want to go next. I went on to a newly established course in high school which focused on IT. From here, I could have chosen to apply as an apprentice but instead I went on to finish the ordinary three-year high school. By doing this I now had the opportunity to apply for college and universities.

Somewhat confused about what I wanted to become, I went on to study IT for a year, and the following year I studied preschool teacher. Not being convinced that any of those classes was the right choice for me I set of to work for a while instead. With my background from IT I landed a job at NTE in Namsos, which is a local energy company with many branches. I was helping their electro-division, NTE Elektro, with the transmission over to a new management system covering all their work areas. When this temporary 6-month assignment was over I was asked if I wanted to continue my previous education, the electro-line from high school, and become an electrician apprentice at NTE. We are now reading 2007.

Three years later in 2010 I got my electrician certification. I continue to work in NTE to this date, having moved from their division in Namsos to their division in Steinkjer. While being an electrician at NTE I have been given the opportunities to work with both private and project customers in a wide range of challenges. In addition to the regular certification as an electrician I have completed the following courses since 2010:

AC/heat pumps installment and maintenance with exam in the F-gas directive.

A one-week course with final exams regarding the handling and operation of the greenhouse gases we encounter during work on AC-systems.

Certified controller of electrical installations, and thermography, within private and public sector.

This is in fact three different courses making me able to do periodic checks on electrical installations according to the regulations in NEK 405: 1, 2 and 3. A total of two weeks of studying with final exams on all directives.

These certifications are what I have been working with most of my time in NTE Elektro. I find it interesting working with the regulations, and it is a great way to keep your head up to date in this fast-moving field of work.
